How to play RareGuess
A little curiosity goes a long way.
Four open-ended questions. Thirty seconds for each. Bring a valid, less ordinary answer to light.
One answer, one glowing stall
Read the prompt, type an English answer, and submit before the timer runs out. An accepted answer lights a stall and earns its pre-set rarity score. Complete all four questions for a total of up to 400 points.
- Common
- 25 points
- Interesting
- 50 points
- Unusual
- 75 points
- Rare Find
- 100 points
Our editors assign these fixed tiers to reviewed answers. They are not live percentages of what other players chose. A Rare Find is worth 100 points whenever that answer is accepted in that question’s current version.
If your answer is unfamiliar
“That answer is not in our collection yet” means it has not been included in the reviewed answer list. It does not mean your idea is wrong. Try another while there is time. Empty, duplicate, and unrecognized submissions do not use up an attempt; the clock keeps running. Skip a question or let time expire to move on with zero points.
Capitalization and extra spaces are ignored, and reviewed aliases are accepted. We do not automatically guess misspellings. After the round, you can email an answer suggestion for editorial review; suggestions do not change a finished score.
A fresh market at 00:00 UTC
Everyone gets the same daily set for the UTC date. A round keeps the date on which it began, so you can finish it across midnight. The next visit can open the new day’s round.
Practice, pause, and return
Practice draws from a separate, finite pool, so rounds can repeat. Consecutive new practice rounds use different sets. Practice never changes your daily score or streak.
Daily progress, answers, and streaks stay in this browser. Refreshing can restore your saved round; the question clock still accounts for time spent away. Clearing browser data removes your records. If storage is unavailable, you can still play this visit, but records cannot be saved.
If an answer request fails, your input stays in place and you can retry. The question clock pauses while waiting for the server. Share your final market without revealing the questions or answers.
